Baggage cars

The Heart of Dixie Museum has several different types of Baggage cars that saw service with the Southern Railway, Illinois Central and Louisville & Nashville railroads.

Baggage-Express No. 329

Car #329 carries the AAR mechanical designation of a BEM-Baggage Express Messenger.

Baggage car no. 467

Baggage-Express car #467 was built by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation in 1928. It was originally constructed as a mail-baggage car carrying the road number 160.

Baggage cars no. 1550 & 1551

Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing built Louisville & Nashville Post Office Cars numbered 1120 and 1121. They were built in December, 1949

Baggage car no. 4527

The Pullman Company built car no. 4527 in 1915. It was originally constructed as a 10 Section, 1 Drawing Room, 2 Compartment car. The original name of the car was the Shrewsbury.

Baggage / Express #805

RPO-Baggage Car #805 was built in 1929 by the ST. Louis Car Co. for the Illinois Central Railroad.
